Hi I’m Heather. I’m the classic wounded healer. I sought counselling after struggling with anxiety and low mood, and found the process so transformative that I decided I wanted to help others to experience the same.

I offer a person-centred trauma informed/ shame sensitive practice. I have experience supporting men and women who have experienced sexual violence and multiple traumas.

I work with people who have anxiety and depression. I work with people who have questions over potential neurodivergency. I work with anyone who wants to explore unexplored parts of their life.

I also have a deep interest in supporting new parents with their transition into child rearing and researched the effects of birth trauma on women for my Masters dissertation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you work?

For the moment, I offer online sessions. This means you can have therapy from a location of your choice, as long as it’s private and secure.

Who do you work with?

I work with young people (16+) and adults who may be experiencing loss, illness, anxiety, depression, or struggling with trauma from the past. Importantly, people don’t need to be in crisis to have counselling. Lots of people will say that they don’t know what’s wrong, they just know something isn’t right. If that is the case then we can just start from the beginning and go from there.

What actually happens in therapy?

It’s hard to describe other than by saying you talk and I listen. But it’s so much more than that. It’s an hour to hopefully feel that you can unravel and examine experiences or parts of you that have been hidden or suppressed. Bringing things into the light, without fear of judgment or expectations, can sometimes help you to reevaluate your past and your present self.

How do I prepare for a therapy session?

As I offer online sessions, it will be a case of finding yourself a comfy spot in your home with good wifi signal and where you won’t be interrupted. Nip to the loo, get yourself a cuppa, or do whatever you feel makes you most comfortable. If possible, don’t plan anything straight after a session. It can be tough when we have busy lives but try to take some time to think through what you have spoken about in peace and quiet. Let it settle before you get on with your day.

That’s why I offer a 30 minute consultation call free of charge before booking. It’s not therapy but it is a good chance for us to get know each other a little bit before you make a decision.
