Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have a referral from a GP?

No, I work independently and so anyone can contact me for an appointment. I offer a free 30 minute chat as a chance to get to know each other before you make a decision to book in for a full session.

Can I have someone with me?

Therapy is an opportunity to talk to someone who has no prior knowledge or assumptions about the person you are. If there is someone is with you then that might not feel the same. To speak freely and as unreservedly as possible, therapy should be just you and me.

Do you work with children?

Not currently as my experience lies with teenagers and adults. I work with people from the age of 16 and over.

Are my sessions confidential?

Yes, all the conversations we have are confidential, meaning that I do not talk about you or what you share to anyone, with a few important exceptions. Most importantly, if I have an immediate fear that you are going to hurt yourself or someone else, I need to tell someone.

To make sure that I am working ethically and safely, I also check in monthly with a clinical supervisor. I may share certain aspects of our therapy but I will never share identifying details about you. Supervision is more about me and how I am working than it is about you.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 24 hour notice of a change or cancellation. I know that things may arise in our lives out of our control so if a session is cancelled last minute, I only charge a £15 cancellation fee rather than the full amount. This helps me to cover my lost earnings and to meet any outgoings on my part.
